Larry Neil Murphy, 80, of Greenville, passed away on March 22, 2022, in Greenville, Texas, after a 2 ½ year battle with kidney disease. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Murphy was born in Wolfe City, Texas on November 28, 1941, to Roy Dale Murphy and Arvel Jane Bell. H graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1960. He played the tenor saxophone in a band in the 1960’s and 1970’s. He worked as a photographer for Temco, LTV, LTV Electrosystems, E-Systems, and Raytheon, and retired after 31 years. He had a store and café in Fairlie, Texas for a few years, worked various construction jobs, then worked for Tractor Supply in Greenville for 18 years, finally retiring in 2016 at the age of 75. He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and accomplished Taxidermist for 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his sons, Kendall Murphy and wife, Lisa, David Murphy, and Chris Murphy and wife, Kim; step-daughter, Cheryl Casselton; sister, Virginia Ann Tomek; sister-in-law, Tammy Lytle Wade and husband, Donnie; nephew, Jesse Lee Tomek; niece, Vickie Tomek; grandchildren, Kenny Murphy, Christa Murphy Poindexter, Casey Murphy, Mitchell Murphy, Ashley Murphy, and Rachel Townes; great-grandchildren, Austin Murphy, Atlas Murphy, Trey Poindexter, Ty Poindexter, Tripp Poindexter, Truitt Murphy, Cameron Murphy, Tavin Moore, Regan Adams and Makayla Townes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson, Danny Stidham; and brother-in-law, Joe Tomek.
