LaWanda Douglas Hill, 87, of Magnolia, formerly of Greenville, passed away on October 6, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
LaWanda was born January 25, 1932 in Erick, Oklahoma to Elmer E. and Alma R. Pugh Taylor. She married Rex Douglas on November 27, 1970 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2002. She later married John Hill.
LaWanda worked as a typist where she was a clerk for the Army Civil Service. She later was apartment manager in Pasadena, Texas, all while staying busying being a homemaker and caring for her family.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville, also previous memberships with Highland Terrace Baptist Church and Park Street Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her husband, John Hill; sons, Trey Douglas and wife Gena, Jim Thomas & wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Dylan Thomas, Taylor Douglas, Drew Douglas; great-grandchildren, Kierston Thomas Sophia Thomas; nieces, Beverly Budd, Donna Crouch and husband, David, Debrah Taylor, Cheryl Merrill and husband, David; numerous great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; previous husband, Rex Douglas, son, Choyce Thomas; sister, Earlene Parker and husband, Bud Parker; nephews, Ronny Parker, Rodney Parker and Roland Parker, brother, Rev. Alvin Taylor and grandparents, Wyley and Betty Taylor and Melvin and Cora Pugh.
