Leon Harrison, 83, of Commerce passed away at his residence on Sunday night October 29, 2023. He was born on October 14, 1940 in Sulphur Springs to Billy T. Harrison and Emma Lou Williams Harrison. On January 12, 1963 Leon married Loretta Wilson. He worked as a Fireman/EMT for and retired from L3 in 1988. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Those left to cherish his memories is his wife Loretta of Commerce, daughter Shawna Kay Harrison of Commerce, sons: Shaun Christopher Harrison of Jacksonville, FL, Anthony Glenn Harrison of Dallas, TX and Steven Randolph Harrison of Mesquite; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters: Dora Maydell Pannell of Commerce, Emma Jean Martin of Commerce, Linda Lou Parker of Commerce, LaWanda G. McCowan of Mt. Pleasant, Nelda Joy Harrison and Janice Marie Harrison; brothers: William Edward (Bob) Harrison of Commerce and Leonard Ray (Papa) Harrison of Commerce.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, an infant brother and an infant daughter.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. Larry Dixon officiating. Military honors will follow after the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Maurice Ford, Fabian Fields, Victor Harrison, Gary Martin, Britt Greer and Johnny Green.
