Mrs. Leota Grace “Grandma” King McCurry, 81, passed away January 25, 2021, at her residence in Lone Oak. She was born October 31, 1939 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Raymond and Opal Grace Naumann King. Leota was raised on a big farm and graduated from Morris High School. She was the FFA Sweetheart and enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball. After graduation, she worked a year for SS Krissage Company. She went to college for a year, but decided it wasn’t for her. Leota then went to work at the Mayo Hotel, in Tulsa, as a cashier. It was then, that she met the love of her life, Ronnie McCurry. They were married on December 24, 1963, in Miami, Oklahoma. In the early 1970’s, she worked as a file clerk and several other positions, before she was promoted, in 1992, to Assistant Vice President of the firm. Leota retired from Principal Financial in November 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wayne King and Ray King.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Ronnie Gene McCurry of Lone Oak; son, Michael Gene McCurry and wife Donna Gail; daughter, Sandra Gail McCurry; two brothers, Roy King and wife Linda and Carl King and wife Mary Lou; two sisters, Kathryn Hendrix and husband Chester and Wilma Goodwin; two sisters-in-law, Linda King and Judy King; three grandchildren, Colton James McCurry and wife Keri, Megan Grace Cook and husband Tyler, and Hannah Marie Lorton; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Noah, and Colton McCurry, Jr.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Hernandez, Buddy Wayne, Gary Dooley, Jim Farrow, David Lorton, Ray Young, and Terry Donaldson.

The family will receive friends, 3-7 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.
