Marcus Neil Whitley, 89, of Lone Oak, Texas, went to be with his heavenly Father on August 28, 2022. Marcus was born to Tollie Lovera Chenault and Odie Ingle Whitley on March 7, 1933, in Lone Camp, Texas. He was born in the Whitley Valley near the Brazos River and grew up in the Brazos, Tx area.
Marcus married his wife, Joyce, on April 14, 1989, in Greenville, Tx, and the couple settled down in Lone Oak, Tx. There, he was able to use his knowledge and passion for pecans. He tended to the pecan orchard where he was able to graft different pecan varieties.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Joyce Whitley; children, Ronny Whitley of Forney, Tx, Annette Weiland of Klondike, Tx, and Larry Whitley of Pensacola, Fl; stepchildren, Melody Vinson of Florissant, Co, and Kelvin Vinson of Kaufman, Tx; grandchildren, Nancy Pate of Elmo, Tx, Connie Gailley of Greenville, Tx, Corey Whitley of Jacksonville, Tx, Scott Etheridge of Richardson, Tx, Brian Whitley of Forney, Tx, Julie Moore of Fort Worth, Tx, Drew Merritt of Austin, Tx, Clint Worrell of Cumby, Tx, and Calvin Worrell of Point, Tx; step grandchildren, Roderick Vinson of Kaufman, Tx, Johnny Vinson of Kaufman, Tx, and Ashley Barnes of Kaufman, Tx; and multiple great grandchildren.
Marcus is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Ingle Whitley, and Kenneth Ray Whitley; child, Marlene Merritt; and great grandchild Brian Lee Robinson.
A service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 11 AM at the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville, Tx with a visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. A committal service will take place the same day at Santo North Cemetery in Santo, Tx at 3:30 PM.
