After graduating from Greenville High School in 1962, Marvin began working as a Firefighter for the City of Greenville. In 1966 he joined the US Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era. He then returned to Greenville in 1968 and once again worked as a Fireman for the city of Greenville. He was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 1985 where he served until his retirement in January of 1994.
In his free time, Marvin enjoyed being outdoors and on the lake going fishing.
Most of all, Marvin was a family man. He loved and adored each member of his family and was very involved in each of their everyday lives.
He leaves lasting and wonderful memories for his family and friends.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 59 ½ years, Sue Bagwell; daughters, Tracy Lynn Stanford and husband Steven and Angela Diane Nichol and husband Chris; grandchildren, Taylor Fortner, Ellie Nichol, Justin Nichol, Tyler Stanford, Gunner Nichol; great-grandchildren, Avery Fortner, Tatum Fortner, Logan Fortner; brother-in-law, Joe Blackburn and wife Pam; sister-in-law, Kathy Folley and husband Bud; numerous nieces and nephews; several cousins; along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Mineral Heights Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas
Interment will follow at the DFW National Cemetery at 2:30 PM in Dallas, Texas. Lynch Funeral Service of Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
