It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lou Cotrell Hall, 100, of Quinlan, TX on April 21, 2025.

She was born October 15,1924 to James C. Cotrell and Annie Louise Smith and the second child of their ten children in Quinlan, Texas.

After high school, she moved to Greenville and married James Belton Hall, and they had two children. Soon after Mary Lou started a successful career at Southwestern Bell Telephone and worked many positions including Central Office Line Specialist and retired after 37 years.

She had many hobbies and interests which included cooking, gardening, canning, travel, crochet, card playing and watching the Texas Rangers Baseball team. She was active in her church and had many friends and was very family oriented. Her memory had exceptional recall of birthdays, phone numbers and the family history which was extensive.

Recently the City of Quinlan, TX held a parade in honor of her 100th birthday. A day that was celebrated with many family members and friends.

She is survived by her sister Jewel Campbell, daughter Judy Bethard-Crouch, grandsons Doug and Wendy Shepard, Mark Hall, Ashley Hall, nieces Caraylon Sherman, Claudia Couch, Caryn Green, Terri Colvin, Rebecca Moffitt, Elizabeth Hall, Kim Dunnagan, Debra Bracey, and nephews Allen Hall, Shannon Coates, Lee and Angela McClintock, Peppi Hall, Joey Hall, and Chris Monk.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sons James Hall Jr., Marion Ray Hall, eight of her siblings, her parents James Cotrell and Annie Smith, and many friends and relatives around the country.

Funeral service for Mary Lou will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Quinlan Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Quinlan Funeral Home.
