Michael Johnathan Floyd was born on January 18,1956, in Pasadena Texas. To many he went by Mike and to his grandkids he was affectionately known as “Papa or Papa Bear” He passed away on November 9,2024 leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work and a passion for the love of the game.
Mike graduated from La Porte, High School while living in Deer Park, Texas. Mike was known for a special talent in being able to build almost anything. This led Mike to a professional career in the field of construction. He worked many years as a crane operator before working through business classes and becoming a project manager in his field. Mike was so proud to be a part of his Capform work family. He will forever be grateful to David Dozzo for everything he did for him and his family. Mike had a huge heart, and he lived for his family. He would tell you his wife Lorie was the best thing that ever happened to him. Mike dedicated his life to providing for his wife, kids, and grandkids. Mike had a love for sports. He shared this passion with his kids and grandkids as well as many other young men and women along the way. Mike devoted much of his free time to coaching youth sports and cheering on the ones he loved at the ball field.
Mike is survived by his wife Lorie Floyd of Caddo Mills, Texas, his son and daughter-in-law Kristopher and Sarah Holdman of Rockwall, Texas, his daughter and son-in-law Amy and Kevin Gradney of Caddo Mills, Texas, his son Michael Johnathan Floyd II of Caddo, Texas, and grandchildren Tanner, Kylah, Linley and Kage. Mike left behind and is also fondly remembered by his father-in-law Hugh Brinkman, brother Lawerence Floyd, sister-in-law Kari Floyd, brother Bryan Floyd, sister-in-law Laura Floyd, sister Diann Floyd Boehm, brother-in-law John Boehm, sister-in-law Marsha Valencia, brother-in-law Mike Valencia, sister-in-law Brenda Brinkman, brother-in-law Dorn Brinkman, sister-in-law Linda Brinkman, and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, George Floyd and Mabel Harris Floyd, mother-in-law JoAnn Brinkman, brother Christopher Floyd, brother Daniel Floyd, and brother-in-law David Brinkman.
The world has lost a beautiful soul, but Heaven is sparkling a bit brighter with Mike a part of it. Michael Johnathan Floyd will be remembered for his love of working with his hands, his work ethic, love of baseball and other sports, and most importantly for the love that he brought to his family.
