Nelda Joye Camp, 96, a Hunt County native and longtime Greenville resident, died on January 26, 2022, in Garland. Funeral services will be Monday, January 31, 2022, in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Camp and Rev. John Foster officiating. Burial will follow the service at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Joye was born on November 3, 1925, in Campbell, Texas to O.T. and Susan White. After she graduated from Greenville High School in 1942, she went to work in the Hunt County School Superintendent’s office. Later, she worked in the personnel office at TEMCO Aircraft when the Greenville plant started production. She married Roy Camp Jr. on August 21, 1954, in Greenville. After she became a full-time homemaker in 1960, she held leadership roles in PTA, Cub Scouts and various church organizations. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where she was involved in Woman’s Missionary Union and the Sunshine Bible Study Class and served as a church librarian.
Joye is survived by son Kenneth Roy Camp and his wife Diane, grandson Daniel Camp and his wife Lindsey, grandson Matthew Camp and his wife Devon, grandson Nathan Camp, four great-grandchildren Henry, Andrew, Owen and Katherine Joye Camp, sister Sandra Oden of DeBerry and several nieces and nephews.
Joye is preceded in death by her husband in 1993 and three sisters Coy Darby, Evelyn Ingram and Loys Ingram.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Camp, Matthew Camp, Nathan Camp, Walter Dale Oden, Ronnie Oden and Stevie Oden
