Nolan Wayne Stubbs, Sr., 77, of Greenville, formerly of Dallas, passed away on February 25, 2021 at his residence. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Mr. Stubbs was born December 19, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to William Nolan Stubbs and Hazel Iona (Hargrove) Stubbs. He grew up in Oak Cliff and was a graduate of Kimbell High School. He was a student at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1964. He is a Vietnam War Veteran and served in the Marines honorably from 1964-1967, achieving the rank of Corporal. He married Cecelia Ann Cook on August 18, 1967 in Camp Pendleton, California. After serving in the Marines, he and Ceceila moved to Dallas, Texas before moving to Greenville, Texas to raise their family. He is a retired U.S. Postal Carrier and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and winning on Texas Lottery scratch offs.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Ann Stubbs; son, Nolan Wayne Stubbs II & wife, Debbie; daughters, Cynthia Ann Mayfield & husband, Chris, and Fayellen (Ellie) Driggers & husband, Craig; sister, Linda Brigance & husband Loyd; grandchildren, Colten Mayfield, Andrew Goerdt, Courtney Mayfield, Ty Driggers, Chase Mayfield, Johnathan Stubbs, Taryn Driggers and Bryan Copeland; great-grand children: Cavin Mayfield and Carter Stubbs; brother-in-law, Vic Popplewell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Marie Popplewell.
