ONCOR, the electricity provider for Northern Hunt County has a service center near the Kingston community. ONCOR is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Oncor delivers energy supply to about 10 million consumers across the state. Derek Hoopman, fleet manager for ONCOR, recently announced, “ONCOR is updating its fleet of service vehicles by adding six new trucks. Three of the trucks have 37-feet high lift booms. These vehicles are built to handle long hours, thousands of miles on county roads, and in all kinds of weather conditions. They are replaced about every five to seven years”.
Hoopman went on to say, “our linemen put a lot of miles on our service trucks in a short amount of time. Our people are in the field every day making sure our customers have electricity”.
One change is the addition to blue flashing lights being installed on the trucks. Derek said a new Texas rule and guideline allows ONCOR to use the lights. The lights should increase driver awareness when encountering the linemen on the job. It will definitely improve safety for employees”.
