Oweta Smith Watson, 86, of Greenville, went to her eternal home on February 11, 2023, in Greenville. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. John Foster officiating. Interment will follow the service at 3:00 P.M., at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Watson was born February 2, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Laris Smith and Pearl Sherrick. She graduated high school a year early, as Salutorian for Mount Pleasant High School. After high school, she attended Business School in Dallas, Texas. She married David Watson on August 4, 1956, in Atlanta, Texas. She worked for Raytheon 3 years and retired from Mary of Puddin Hill after 20 years. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church. She was a great cook and loved to travel to 50 states and Europe. She enjoyed shopping, getting her nails done, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all else, she loved God and wanted everyone to have a relationship with Jesus.
She is survived by her husband, David Watson; sons, Paul Watson and Randy Watson; daughter, Renee Gibson and husband, Mike Gibson; sister, Marzelle Newman; sisters-in-law, Sherry Smith and Alliene Duke; grandchildren, David Gibson, Christina Sharp and husband, Jarrod Sharp, Alyssa Watson, Nicole Watson; and great-grandchildren, Jaxson Gibson and Callie Sharp.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and brother, Gary Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jarrod Sharp, Mike Gibson, David Gibson, Chuck Foti, Mark Ferguson, and Billy Hardy.
