Paul Mantle Jr, a son, brother, father, dedicated godson, devoted husband, and proud Vietnam veteran, passed away on November 23rd, 2024 at the age of 71. Born on October 5th, 1953, in Dallas, TX, Paul was a remarkable individual whose life was marked by service, the ability to overcome obstacles, and a deep passion for military history.
After graduating from Peacock Military Academy, Paul enlisted in the United States Marines, where he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. His experiences during the war shaped his character and strengthened his commitment to his military brothers. He often shared stories of his service, instilling a sense of pride and respect for the military in those around him.
Paul married the love of his life, Vicky Mantle, on April 1st, 1996. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. As a devoted husband, he was always there to support her in sickness and in health. They created a home on their Texas hobby farm, where they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and the beauty of nature including the squirrels, fish and deer on the property.
In addition to his military service, Paul was an avid military history buff. He enjoyed reading extensively about various conflicts, collecting pieces of military history, and sharing his knowledge with others. His passion for history was infectious, and he often engaged in spirited discussions with friends and family. Paul was committed to celebrating our own family military history by taking his uncle to 384th annual reunions all around the country while the WWII veterans were still alive.
David Leroy Mantle, Paul’s cherished grandfather, first introduced him to the field of surveying at the age of 12. They spent their summers working together, with Paul learning the craft alongside him. Unbeknownst to Paul, after returning from the war, he would decide to pursue a career in land surveying that would span several decades. He further refined his expertise by becoming skilled in Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD).
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky, his children Patricia and Andrea, and six grandchildren; Morgan, Logan, Lucas, Jake, Lynden, and Lillian. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service to his country, his unique spirit, and his sense of humor will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the following good causes in honor of Paul’s memory:

Paul would always say, “Marines are always told that they will be guarding the gates of heaven.” Then he would laugh and say, “Good thing since I couldn’t get in by myself!”
Rest in peace and thank you for guarding heaven for us, Paul Mantle Jr. Your courage, brotherly support, and dedication will never be forgotten. Semper Fi! (Latin for “always faithful”)
