Raymond Lomont Gathright, 52, of Greenville, passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was born on January 22, 1970, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Jerry Gathright and Janell Self Gathright
Raymond attended Mesquite High School, graduating with the class of 1988. He then spent some years working in the sheet metal industry as an estimations supervisor. Later in life, he focused on his education once again, attending TAMU-C, earning his BS in Sociology, with a minor in Counseling, with the distinction of High Honors. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, which is a Sociology Honor Society. Upon further consideration, Raymond decided focusing on becoming a Life Coach was the path he would pursue, in which he experienced some success in the last six years.
Raymond and his family were active members of Grace Community Church and Authentic Life Fellowship until his health would not permit him. When not working, he enjoyed many various activities, including collecting arrowheads. He was a member of the Surface Hunters of Texas, as well as the Civil Air Patrol, for which he was the Public Information Officer of his squad. He also enjoyed finescale modeling, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He married the love of his life, Shaonda Baker, on November 10, 1990, in Mesquite.
Left to cherish Raymond’s memory are his wife, Shaonda; his children, Jeremy Gathright and wife, Ashley, and Charity Starks, and husband, Daniel; grandson, Alex Starks; his mother, Janell Willaby and husband, Jimmy, his father, Jerry Gathright and wife, Ann; sister, Laura-Ann Kaun and husband, David; brother-in-law, Richard Baker and wife, Susan and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Nell Self, and Montie and Gladys Gathright and a niece, Sierra Baker.
Serving as honorary bearers for Raymond are Philip Rains, Curtis Hettich, Pervis Griffis, David Kaun, Richard Baker, and Alan Sprankle.
