After leaving the Air Force, Ed worked for the U.S. government until he retired again in 2015. He was a competitive archer, winning numerous state and national championships. He was also a regular at Stone River Golf Club in Royse City and proudly played golf in 43 states.

Ed requested no public service, only to be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His final resting place will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
