Rev. Dwayne Loyd Pattison, co-pastor of First Pentecostal Church of God, Greenville, TX & mayor of Caddo Mills, TX, passed away in his home on August 2, 2020 with family at his side. Dwayne Pattison was born in Redlands, California on May 21, 1949 to Archie and Betty Pattison. Dwayne had the honor of growing up in several beautiful states including Alaska, Kentucky, California, and the great state of Texas.
Six weeks before graduating Greenville High School, Dwayne entered the Army. He served his country in Korea. Dwayne was a very proud veteran and loved his country deeply. On June 21, 1969, Dwayne married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Nelson. Together they build an amazing life. They lived in Dallas, Greenville, Oak Cliff, Mesquite, and for the past 37 years, in Caddo Mills where Dwayne has proudly served as mayor for the past twelve years. Dwayne worked as a railroad engineer for the Katy and UnionPacific Railroad for 33 years before retirement. The most recent accomplishment that Dwayne achieved, that he regarded as the most high, was becoming an ordained minister.
Rev. Dwayne Pattison would lead songs at church weekly and preach the gospel along with his wife, where they pastored. His favorite song was page 304 “I Want to Know More About My Lord” and he was also admired for the song he sung, “Jesus First, Others Second, and me Third” that reflected exactly how he lived his life.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his father, Archie Loyd Pattison, and his mother, Betty Faye Jordan Colvin, his father-in-law, Rev. Woodrow Lewis Nelson and mother-in-law, Rev. Vernell Nelson.
Dwayne is survived by his beautiful wife of 51 years, Joyce Ann Pattison. His daughter, Jennifer Kramer and husband, Rick of Caddo Mills: His son, Jeff Pattison and wife, Allyson of Caddo Mills. Grandchildren (which were his pride and joy) Shelbe & Tawny Welk, Nelson & Lauren Welk, Brittani Kramer, Landon Pattison & Jayd Pattison. Great-Grandchildren (who brought that extra joy to his life) Grayson & Reagan Welk. He was also survived by his siblings, Carol O’Briant and husband Joe, Ellen Harder and husband Phil, Fred Pattison and wife Janet & Gavin Brown and wife Marna, and many nieces and nephews and other family members that he loved deeply.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Crossroads Church, 1501 E. Joe Ramsey, Greenville, TX. with Rev. Rick Martinez and Bishop Roy Carrico officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Rick Kramer, Nathan Pattison, Neil Pattison, Randy Hines, James McAbee, & Matthew Coker. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Wesley Smith, Randall Walding, Rev. Al Clark & Ray Welk.
To know Dwayne Pattison, was to love him. And he loved deeply. To remember him, we ask that you love each other, don’t judge, lend a helping hand when you can, and most importantly put Jesus first and others second.
