Richard’s professional career was dedicated to commercial insurance, where he worked as an underwriter and broker. After moving to Dallas in 1984, he continued his career in the industry before retiring in 2006. Following his retirement, he lived in Pecan Gap, before relocating to Greenville in 2012.
A man of deep faith, Richard was a committed member of the Family Fellowship Church and had been a Christian since 1969. He was also a proud graduate of Sewanee Military Academy in Tennessee and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the University of Houston. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Richard was known for his strong character, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family. He is survived by his sons, Richard Claude Cole, Jr., David Franklin Cole, Daniel Derry Cole, and Jonathan Darby Cole; his brother, Dr. William Frank Cole, Jr., sister, Nancy Kay Segrato; and his cherished grandchildren, Toby Justice Cole, Elliana Ransom Cole, Asha Lily Cole, Shepherd William Cole, Alice Renee Cole, Shiloh Virginia Cole, and Theo Dignan Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Frank Cole Sr. and Lora Cammack Cole, and his sisters Carol Ann Cole and Linda Lou Eddins.
