Richard Wesley Krodle, 77, of Greenville – a faithful husband, a gentle, loving father, a proud “Daddo/Grandaddy,” and Army veteran – passed away August 6, 2021, at Mesquite Specialty Hospital.  A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Terrace Baptist Church.  A private graveside service for the family will be at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Richard was born August 10, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, to W. W. “Pete” and Rachel Boyce Krodle.  He was a 1961 graduate of Greenville High School and studied electrical engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. 

In 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Nell Lindsey, whom he was married to for 54 years.  He was the consummate father to his sons, who both considered their best friend, but truly loved being “Daddo” or “Grandaddy” to his 5 grandchildren.

A retired Master Sergeant, he served in the United States Army and the Texas Army National Guard for 42 years.  He was a member of and deacon at Highland Terrace Baptist Church where he served in numerous roles, his favorite being a 9th & 10th grade Bible study director in the youth ministry.

 He is survived by his son, Kurt Krodle and wife, Theressa of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Kelli Krodle of Caddo Mills; sister, Mary Kay Bonney and husband, Bill of Oklahoma City; sisters-in-law, Dell Duncan and husband, Bob, of Greenville, Mary Lindsey of Terrell, Rhonda Cameron and husband, Brian of Lindale; grandchildren, Cade Krodle, Caroline Krodle, Kason Krodle, Adelaide Krodle, Todd William Krodle; nieces, Aimee Null and husband, Brent, Amber Bonney, Mary Kay Mccoy, Jessica Johnson and husband, Nick, and Wendi Lindsey Brown; nephews, David Lindsey and wife, Lori, Donald Lindsey, Stephen Millard and wife, Darcy, Bart Millard and wife, Shannon, Jacob Hinds and wife, Sarah; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his son, Lt. Todd Krodle.

Pallbearers will be Cade Krodle, David Lindsey, Donald Lindsey, Stephen Millard, Rick Dickson, Corey Thornton, and James Tracy.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Greenville High School Class of 1961, Bill Dennis, Chief Kenny Moore, Capt. Tim Baker, and the Board of Directors of the Krodle Foundation: Milton Williams, Capt. Dameon Burcie, Capt. Mike Milam, Brandon Asberry, and Kara Tolaney.
