Rita Ramona Sue “Sweet Sue” Smith, 82, of Greenville, passed away on November 25, 2021, in Greenville. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Bro. John Foster officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will be in East Mount Cemetery.

Sue was born on January 16, 1939, in Greenville, Texas to Boyd Smith and Bonnie Lee Frazier. She retired after 20 years of service from the City of Greenville Police and Fire as a Dispatcher. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church and Young at Heart, Groovy Granny’s, and See & Sew.

She is survived by her son, Philip Wayne Smith and wife, Angela; grandchildren, Andrea Lee Schwausch, Hilary Michelle Smith & her husband Kenny Murphy, Nicolas Wesley Smith, Marie Brock and husband Chris Brock, Adam Studley and wife, Sydney; great-grandchildren, Cole Schwausch, Jaren Schwausch, Atlas Murphy, Bennett Brock, and Gavin Brock; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and best friends Pamela Wright, Martha Cherry and Barbara Reeves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Kathleen Simmons and Nancy McCartney, and brother, Billy Boyd Smith.

Pallbearers are Richard Bench, Perry Sandlin, C.J. Crawford, Robert Wood, Ron Reed and Dan Ernhart. Honorary pallbearers will be the Greenville Police Department and Greenville Fire Department.
