On Thursday, September 12, 2019, Robert “Bob” Michael Jones entered heaven at the age of 74 years old. Bob made his home in Point, Texas, over the last couple of years to be close to his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was born on July 8, 1945 in the St. Louis, Missouri. Upon graduating high school from Riverview Gardens, he became a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers, Local Union No. 36 where he later retired. On August 21st, 1964, he married Sharon Lee Rinehart. They raised three children, one daughter Christine, and two sons Jared and Jason Jones.
Bob knew no strangers, a friend to everyone he met. He always had a story to tell, to anyone who would gladly listen. His friends referred to him as the “Gentle Giant”, since he was 6’6″ and always happy. They would say he gave the best hugs, smiles, and always had a kind heart. Bob was a big supporter of local cafes where he enjoyed lunch and visiting with local friends. He was also a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, never missing a game. He was a muscle car gearhead and a Mustang enthusiast.
He leaves behind: his daughter Christine Powell and husband Andy Powell of Lone Oak, Texas. Their children, Taylor Skeen and husband Jeremy Skeen of Cooper, Texas; Jordan Powell and Ethan Powell of Lone Oak, Texas; three great-grandchildren Tarah, Evan and Sydney; sons Jared Jones and Jason Jones of Forsyth, Missouri; special friend Lori Bosworth.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Sharon Jones, mother Ruth Jones, father William Jones, and brother William “Bill” Jones.
He will be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends. A special celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date at their family farm.
