Robert Leonard Andrews, 97, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 in Greenville.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Coker Matthews funeral home chapel with Jim Crain and Frank Morgan officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 1:00 PM until service time.
Robert was a member of Creekside Church of Christ. He was born August 26, 1922 in Grove, Oklahoma to Albert Sidney Andrews and Ida Langford Andrews. He married Crystal Crain at the Tenth & Rockford church of Christ in Tulsa, Oklahoma May 1st, 1954.
He was a navigator in the U. S. Air force during WWII. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent the majority of his career working on the U. S. Space program projects Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo.
He is survived by wife of 65 years, Crystal Andrews, sister Bonnie Redels of Lubbock, sons Jim (Melinda) of Richardson, Philip of Dallas and daughter Carolyn Lewis (David) of Fort Worth, four grandsons: Christopher Andrews, Patrick Lewis (Danielle), Stuart Lewis (Courtney) and William Andrews, 4 great-grandchildren: Hailey, Nathan, Matthew and Harper, 9 nephews and 8 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hodo, Farrell Nalls, Gary Pendergrass, Steve Pryce, Mark Wilhelm & Wayne Wallace. Burial will be at East Mount Cemetery.
