Russell Louis Reeves Jr. age 77, of West Tawakoni, passed on Friday May 14, 2021. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Monday May 24, 2021 at DFW National Cemetery under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan.
Russell was born on November 3, 1943, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to Russell Louis Sr. and Hope Marie Reeves. He attended school and graduated from Demoines Iowa High School. He was an eagle scout during high school and earned numerous medals and rewards. He met the love of his life, Edith Jane Reeves, in Arizona and they married October 11, 1968. Russell enlisted into the United States Air Force in Des Moines on September 1, 1961 and loyally served his country as a USAF Airline Mechanic until his honorable discharge on August 31, 1967. He became an ordained minister in the 1970s then moved to Hama New Mexico where he pastored his first church. Russell worked for Big Springs ISD from 1991 – 1995 and then for Terrell ISD for 13 years, from 1995 to 2008, where he later retired. He also enjoyed being outdoors and spending his time on the lake in the boat with his grandkids and family. One of his favorite things was taking care and being there for his family.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1986, mother in April 2021, and sisters, Rita and Barbara.
Russell is loved and will be missed by his loving wife, Edith Reeves of West Tawakoni; three sons, Russell (Rusty) Reeves of West Tawakoni, Lance Reeves and wife Shannon of Floresville, Texas, Rodney Reeves of College Station; Grandchildren Russell, Layne, Connor, Layce, Katie.
