Sally Mae Millsap, a beloved matriarch, was born on April 18, 1933, in Hopkins County, Texas, and passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Known for her warmth and nurturing spirit, Sally dedicated her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally. Her career included work at Sherwood Medical and in home health, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and dedication.
A devoted wife and a cherished mother, Sally’s legacy lives on through her three children: Jan Clayton and husband Ray; Cindy Wies and husband Ben; and Jeff Moreland and wife Stephanie. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren who brought her immense joy, sixteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren, creating a tapestry of family that reflected her love and commitment to those she held dear.
Sally was also blessed with the companionship of her sisters, Barbara Coffman and Linda Coffman, and a supportive network of family that included sister-in-law Pearl Wilson and brother-in-law Carlos McKay, alongside many nieces, nephews, and friends who have shared in the beauty of her life.
Though she cherished her family, Sally also endured the heartache of loss. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Junior Millsap, who left a lasting void in her heart. Sally was also preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Coy Lee Wilson, and several siblings including James Wilson, Mary Roland, Ina Ruth Wilson, Betty Moreland, Johnie Wilson, Shirley Morgan, Mereta McKay, Melba McKnight, Carrol Wilson, and Kenneth Wilson. Further sorrow was felt with the passing of her great-granddaughter, Tammy Clayton, and great-great-grandson, Karsen Putman, whose memories she held closely.
Her kindness and strength will be forever remembered by all who knew her. The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Sally’s life during visitation at Jones – Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce, Texas, on December 22, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her remarkable life will follow on December 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM, also at the same location with Bro. David Burns officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Putman, Kurtis Putman, Shane Head, Kyle Putman, Tyler Head, Jacob Head and Payton Moreland.
