Services for Shirley Jo Phelps Shreves, 83, of Point, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Lone Oak Assembly of God, with Bro. Sam Calk and Bro. Randy Shreves officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.
Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery, Caddo Mills.
Mrs. Shreves passed away April 23, 2024, in Plano. She was born July 20, 1940, to Basle Gee and Nancy Maude Reed Phelps. On May 8, 2012, she married Clyde Elton Shreves in Lone Oak. Shirley had lived the last 30 years in the Greenville area and attended the Assembly of God Church. She taught Sunday School for several years and enjoyed Blue Grass Music. She loved history, birds, flowers, quilting, sewing, and dancing. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Dean Cox; son, John Samuel Cox; stepson, Rickie Elton Shreves; grandson, David Matthew Day; and four siblings, Robert Houston “Bobby” Phelps, Carolyn Sue Blakely, Jackie Don Phelps, and Randall Gee Phelps.
Survivors include her husband Clyde Shreves of Point; two sons, Basle Dean Cox and wife Elvira of Lone Oak and Nelson Ray Cox and wife Marcy of Greenville; two daughters, Mitzi Jo Shreves and husband Randy of Greenville and Lori Suzzette Aaron of Dallas; three stepsons, William Doyle Shreves of Ohio, Ronny Eugene Shreves and wife June of Emory and Danny Wade Shreves and wife Jeannette of Ohio; two stepdaughters, Melinda Carol Howell and husband Richard of Point and Marilyn Kay Kitts and husband Mike of Caddo Mills; sister, Cathy Irene Sullivan and husband Jerry of Allen; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cox, Daniel Cox, Joseph Cox, Waco Day, Nelson Aaron, Nelson Dotson, Hayden Amico, and Caleb Marsh.
