Shirley Laverne Alexander of Wolfe City, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 1, 2023. Born to Mary Francis Murphy and Arvin James Frye, Shirley was the oldest of nine. She grew up on a modest farm in Hunt County and later made a career change in machine operations for over 20 years. Shirley had a passion for reading, sewing, and cooking. She was well known for her kind heart, honesty, and love.
Shirley met her husband, Michael, in 1975. they confirmed their vows on April 2, 1976. Together they raised four children and retired together in Wolfe City, TX. Having a strong faith, Shirley was a devoted member as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Michael of Wolfe City, TX, daughter, Lillian Frye-Ogunpehin of Frisco, TX, sons, Andre Alexander of Leonard, TX and Jason Alexander of Sherman, TX, daughter, Shawna Alexander Lewis of Frisco, TX, and stepdaughter, Floria Tryon of Dallas, TX, grandchildren, Micah Alexander, Jazlyne Humberson, Kursten Alexander, Ethan Alexander, Ashton Alexander, Justice Tryon, Tierra Tryon, and Christopher Tryon, siblings, Stanley (Mac) Murphy, Kelvin (Marcus) Murphy, Rosemary McFail, Tyrone Murphy, and Christy Reed, sixteen nieces and nephews, three aunts, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, as well as numerous cousins.
Shirley is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and one sister.
A Memorial Service has been planned on March 11, 2023 at 12:00pm CST at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Commerce, TX.
