Susan Tucker Hensley, age 55, of West Tawakoni, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Pastor Jeff Jackson officiating.

Susan Tucker Hensley was born on April 12, 1967, in Dallas, Texas to the late Mr. Billy Frank Tucker and Ruth Sleeper Tucker. She was raised and grew up in Balch Springs and Mesquite. She attended and graduated from Mesquite High School, where she was a talented member of the Mighty Maroon Band and played the Saxophone. She attended Eastfield College in Mesquite, studying accounting. She worked at American National Bank as a bank teller for many years. She married the love of her life, Johnny Ray Hensley on October 10, 2020, on her parents’ pontoon boat. They made their home in West Tawakoni where she loved spending time in nature. She loved fishing and was a great angler. She also liked to accompany Johnny on his many hunting trips. She loved puzzles, cards, and cooking. She enjoyed watching football and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs fan. Susan also loved to bowl and was a member of the bowling league at Big Town Bowling in Mesquite. She had an extreme love for horses, earning her the name, ‘crazy horse lady’. Susan and her horse, Kojack won numerous purses and awards, and was a four-time attendee to the National Finals in Reno, Nevada for team roping as a heeler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Ruth Tucker. She was also preceded by her K9 Kid, Tracey in December 2022, and her Equine Baby, Kojack in 2008.

She is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her devoted husband and best friend, Johnny Hensley of West Tawakoni; Son, Cody Burkham and wife Zandra Burkham of Decatur; Daughter, Lacy Ruth Elizabeth Baker of West Tawakoni; Brother, Allen Neil Tucker of Quinlan; Sister, Dr. Sharon Elizabeth Tucker, and wife Tina Campise of Heath; numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins and her K9 Kid, Chewy of West Tawakoni.

Susan leaves a beautiful legacy of compassion, love, and acceptance. She made the world better by her smile and brought the best out of those that knew her.
