Taunja Jean Weber passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones in her home in Greenville, Tx at the age of 54 on Saturday September 4, 2021, after a two-year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Taunja was born on June 3, 1967, in Elkton Maryland to Alma Jean Barnhart and Bobby Buchanan Sr. She was a sister to Terri and Chuck Blose, Bobby and Carol Buchanan, as well as Jeff and Patricia Buchanan.
Taunja was a friend to everyone and had a knack for breaking the ice. She built relationships and drew people in whether it was on the court with the countless children she coached or while she was deeply involved in her Emmaus community. She was passionate in her career and was invaluable to the REC Foundation, who were more like family than colleagues.
She was a jack of all trades, indeed. Taunja was a long-time resident of Rowlett Tx. She joined her partner, Christi, in Greenville, TX, where they planted their roots as leaders of their “tribe”. She enjoyed journaling, family game nights, and adored coaching both her children and grandchildren in softball, soccer, and volleyball.
Taunja was known for her sarcastic sense of humor, her steadfast devotion-tolerance, utter adoration for everyone that touched her life and filled her circle. Her bountiful wisdom helped answer many of life’s questions.
Taunja is survived by her spouse Christi Escobedo, their children Robert and his wife Amber, Olivia, Adam, Hannah, Lillian, Emylia, Kendall, and Jose “Tres”. Her grandchildren Brenden, Sydney, Shelby, Hayden, Chloe, and Uma. Her mother Jean Barnhart and stepfather Lowell Barnhart, also an abundance of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Predeceased by her Father Bobby Buchanan Sr., sister Teri Blose, and nephew Cal Buchanan.
Memorial will be officiated by Pastor Brenda Williams on Saturday, September 11, 2021, 10 a.m, at Coker-Mathews in Greenville, TX.
A come and go reception will be held directly following service at 117 Arrowhead Dr. Greenville, Tx. 75402 for food and fellowship.
