Truman “Sandy” Barkley Sands, 75, of Greenville passed away on April 4, 2024. He was born on December 22, 1948 in Hudson, Maine to Rufus and Evelyn Sands.
Sandy retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service and served during Vietnam. Sandy married his wife Vickie in 2001 and they owned and ran “End of the Rainbow Christian Childcare” serving the children of Quinlan and their families for 30 years.
He was a great man known as “PawPaw” to his grandchildren. Sandy loved his grandchildren very much and cherished spending time with them. He always had a cup of coffee in his hand ready for each day. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and sister-in-law, Kathie.
Truman is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vickie Sands; sister-in-law, Kathie Cook; children: Scott Sands, Stacey Sands and husband John Belyeu, Russell Miller & wife Angelia, Shonnda Harris & husband Bradley; grandchildren: Destiny Belyeu, J.D. Belyeu, Kyleigh Belyeu, Chris Sands, Hartley Hope Harris, Austin Dale Harris, Joshua Crabb; siblings: Georgia Springer, Rufus Sands, Dana Sands; best friend, Phillip Keith and wife Susan; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
There will be a visitation from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville. The graveside service will be at 2:00 pm at Bogata Cemetery. Pastor Chris Blanchett will be presiding.
