Val Jean (Atherton) Luke, 84, of Greenville, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2023. She was born August 20, 1938, in Kingston, Texas, to Guy and Mary Lou (Steed) Atherton.

Val Jean loved the Lord Jesus Christ and attended Destiny Christian Center in Garland, Texas.  She believed in the power of prayer and was an avid prayer warrior.  She also enjoyed being outsdoors working in her garden or being indoors baking in her kitchen. Val Jean was very family oriented; she deeply cherished her family and loved to spend time with each family member, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be remembered for her larger than life personality and how everywhere she went she never met a stranger.

Val Jean leaves lasting and wonderful memories for her family and friends.

Val Jean is survived by her children, Keith Luke, Kathy Barron and husband Richard; Daughter-in-law Beverly Parish; grandchildren Mandy Ford and husband Michael, Nikki Glowicki and husband Jordan; great grandchildren Grady Ford, Cyrus Ford, Everly Ford, Adelaide Glowicki, Mercer Glowicki; sisters Carolyn Livingston and husband Floyd, Linda Watkins and husband Ben; numerous nieces and nephews; along with a host of loving relatives and friends.

Val Jean was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Gary Luke.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 17th, 10:00 am at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas.
