Vernice Windus, a beloved Oral Surgical assistant and medical coding professional, passed away on December 11, 2023, in Greenville, Texas. She was born on October 30, 1949, in Louisville, Georgia, to Chester Oaks and Alice Oaks.
Vernice left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. She dedicated her career to assisting oral surgeons and ensuring the smooth operations of medical coding procedures. With her exceptional skills and unwavering commitment, Vernice earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
Vernice’s educational journey began with a high school education which served as a strong foundation for her future endeavors. She consistently strived for excellence in every aspect of her life, always seeking opportunities for personal growth and professional development.
Beyond her career achievements, Vernice had a vibrant spirit that extended into her personal interests. She possessed a flair for creativity and found solace in the art of decorating and interior design. Through these hobbies, she transformed spaces into beautiful sanctuaries that reflected her innate sense of style.
Family meant everything to Vernice. She cherished the moments spent with her loved ones and was deeply committed to maintaining strong bonds. In addition to her parents Chester Oaks and Alice Oaks, Vernice is survived by her sister Vickie Oaks and brother Lee Keelin. Her grandmother Odelia Oaks and grandfather Peter Oaks held a special place in her heart. Their presence provided guidance throughout Vernice’s life.
Vernice’s siblings Lewis Oak and Betty Oak brought joy to her life through their constant support and love. Betty Oak’s role as a sister-in-law further strengthened their bond as they embarked on adventures together.
Left to cherish memories of joyful times are her daughter Dayna Olivas who was the light of Vernice’s life. Dayna provided endless love, happiness, and inspiration which filled Vernice’s heart.
Vernice’s extended family and friends also shared in the deep loss. Her sister Venus Chase and husband Steven, sister Dee Oaks, and cousin Sandra Ezell were sources of comfort throughout Vernice’s life. Cousin Dean Ezell provided friendship and support during both good times and difficult moments.
The presence of Curtis Graves Sr., brother-in-law, added warmth to Vernice’s family gatherings. Curtis Graves II and his wife Christy, along with Shane Graves, Vernice’s nephews, brought laughter and joy into her life. Their presence created a tapestry of love that Vernice cherished deeply.
