W C “Wild Cat” Akers, 92, of Greenville, passed away on June 7, 2022, at his home.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Dukes officiating.  Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

W C was born on November 13, 1929, in Campbell, Texas to Charlie and Edith White Akers.  He married Loretta Duke on November 17, 1989, in Greenville, Texas.  He served his country with the US Army.  He worked as a fireman for the City of Greenville and was a member of the Crestview Christian Church.

W C is survived by his wife, Loretta Akers; sons, John Akers, James Akers, Jacob Akers, Jason Akers, Jerald Akers; daughters, Jeannita McCoy, Teri Sargent, Carolyn Davis, Cathleen Garcia, Tracy Tillman, April Forbeck; sister, Barbara Thomas; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chester Akers and children, Joe Akers and Jeannine Cherry.

Pallbearers will be Joey Akers, Justin Akers, Nathaniel Akers, Matthew Sellers, Hannah Akers, and Matthew Carter.
