Wanda Jean Isaacs, 79, of Greenville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She was born in Windom, Texas on June 20, 1939 to Barney and Thelma Durham. She was a graduate of the Class of 1957 of Greenville High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from East Texas State University.
On July 22, 1961, she married Robert Lee Isaacs in Bells, Texas. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed for the public for many years before working for Southwest Sunbelt and retiring from Raytheon. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Music was very important to Wanda and she sang with the Greenville Concert Chorus for many years.
She is survived by daughters Lori Philyaw and husband Bob, and Lisa Hooten and husband Randy, all of Greenville, and Lana Harris and husband Brian of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Grandchildren Cris Philyaw, Samantha Kelley and husband Leonard, Amanda Sumrow and husband Alex, Adam Philyaw and partner William Svrcek, Matthew Hooten and wife Gabby, Carolanne Turpin and husband Andrew, Colten Harris and wife Francie, and Parker Hooten and girlfriend Mia Lee. She was GiGi to her great-grandchildren Faith, Brody & Liam Thibault, Kennedey and Kennley Sumrow, Madison & Aiden Hooten, Hadley & Evelyn Jo Philyaw, Liam Kelley, Mason, Meredith & Mitchell Turpin. She is also survived by special friend Jennifer Griggs and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, and her beloved cat Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Frances Hill and Thelma Currin, and brother Bill Durham.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, from 6 – 8 pm at Coker Mathews funeral home. Services will be Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Greenville, Texas. Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.
