Wendell Eugene “Salty” Jeter, 83, of Greenville, passed away on November 7, 2021, at Greenville Gardens. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel wth Mr. Raymond Turner. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until service time. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cooper, Texas.

Salty was born February 16, 1938, in Cooper, Texas to Dennis Jeter and Rhada Hefley Jeter. He married Anita Carson Jeter on July 14, 1956, in Cooper, Texas. He worked as a highway patrolman for 20 years for DPS and 10 years for the DMV. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Jeter; daughter, Donna Pope and husband, Craig; son-in-law, Ronnie Thomas; grandchildren, Nicole Zolnai, Amanda Ketron and Tommy Little, Justin Pope, Kayla Ragsdale and husband, Neil; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Vance, Lainey, Dylan, Rylan, Lorelei, Keatyn and Kadyn; great-great-grandchildren, Jadeyn, Jenleigh and Paizlee; sister-in-law, Deborah Kay and Benny Bowie; cousin, Mike Mosley and Jeanie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Sonya Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Justin Pope, Neil Ragsdale, Jace Jarvis, Dylan Ketron, Vance Zolnai and Rylan Pope.
