William Sheridan Tiffee, 79, passed away on September 18th in Austin, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
William was born May 23rd, 1942, in Wolfe City, Texas to Foid Howard Tiffee and Wilma Nadine Coats.
He enlisted in the US Army right after graduating from Wolfe City High School. He had a distinguished career with the US Army serving in the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment. He served 2 tours in Vietnam. He was one of 12 soldiers airlifted out of the La Drang Valley which was one of the most historic battles between the US and North Vietnam. During his years of service, he was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Cross of Gallantry w/PALM.
After retiring from the US Army he returned to his beloved Texas and went back to school to obtain his Master’s Degree in Political Science and enjoyed a successful teaching career.
In 2000 he retired from teaching to the Texas hill country.
William is survived by his wife Carol King Tiffee, sisters Dianne Tiffee McCutchen, LaNell Tiffee Wilson, daughters Lisa Crabtree, Ronda Dickeson, Lori Kinnaird, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
William is preceded in death by parents Wilma Nadine Tiffee (Coats) and Foid Howard Tiffee. Brothers Howard and Johnny Tiffee.
