Harold Gordon Hatley, age 73, of Lone Oak passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Goggans Funeral Home in Terrell, Texas. Mr. Hatley’s funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Goggans Funeral Home with Barry Boatwright officiating. A graveside service will follow at Hooker Ridge Cemetery in East Tawakoni, Texas.

 

Harold was born on December 7, 1949 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Mancel Wayne and Sudie Faye (Holt) Hatley, the youngest of six brothers. He married Marisol “Marji” Ortiz on October 25, 1985 in Dallas. Harold nobly served in the United States Army and received his bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University and his master’s degree from the University of North Texas. Before retiring, he worked in the human resources industry. Harold was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved animals, especially dogs, and he enjoyed cooking, travel, carpentry, genealogy, and fishing.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Thompson and husband, Matthew of Kaufman; granddaughters, Miranda Thompson of Garland and Jenna Thompson of Rowlett; former wife, Brenda McDonald; numerous nieces and nephews; and a great-granddaughter is expected to arrive in January 2024.

 

Harold was preceded in death by his wife Marisol Hatley and his unborn daughter, Sara Hatley; brothers, M.W. “Dub” Hatley, Bobby Gene Hatley, Joe Glenn Hatley, James Lynn Hatley, Charles Shelton Hatley; sister-in-law, Judy Hatley; niece, Sherry Perry; great-niece Amanda Hatley.
