Sallye Jo Tucker Thomas was the 9th of 10 children and the last sibling born November 4, 1932, to Charlie Craig and Claudia Ann Sims Tucker in the farm community of Columbia, near Fairlie. The family moved to Clinton, Texas in the middle 1940s and as all families, everyone worked on the farm.
She obtained her education in the Columbia, Clinton, Floyd, and Caddo Mills schools and graduated from Caddo Mills High School, where she immediately began work in the Consumer Finance Industry in Dallas and attended night school at Draughan’s Business School.
On February 16, 1952, she married her childhood sweetheart, Stanly Thomas and they made their home in Greenville. She continued her work in the finance industry retiring at the end of 1998. Stanly passed away on May 27, 2006.
She received our Lord and Saviour in her early teens and was baptized at the Clinton Gin Pool. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Goodman of Mesquite, Steven Thomas and wife, Lisa, of Royse City; grandchildren, Stanley Goodman and wife, Yujie of Coppell, Nancy Flournoy and husband, Chris of Holly Lake, Bobby Goodman and wife, Kim of Plainview, Mitchell and wife, Lyndsey of Commerce, Cameron and wife, Danielle of Dallas and Caitlyn Meeks and husband, Hunter of Greenville; great-grandchildren, Marissa Thomas, Madelyn Thomas, Rachel Goodman, William, Sandy and Kaylee Flournoy, Wayne and Xander Goodman. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jim Goodman; great-grandson, James Lee Flournoy and 5 sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Mr. Christopher Flournoy officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Stanly Goodman, Mitchell Thomas, Cameron Thomas, William Flournoy, and Hunter Meeks.
