Gordon “Don” Gillentine passed away on September, 2nd 2021 at the age of 77, in his hometown of Greenville, Tx.
Don is survived by his wife; Linda Gillentine, sons; Don and his wife Amy Gillentine, Kyle and his wife Woodley Gillentine, grandchildren; Harper, Josie, Ben, and Colt Gillentine, brother; Jerry Kuhn, sister; Brenda Folmar, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Hudgeons family relatives. He was preceded in death by his father; Hugh Gillentine, mother; Dollie Kuhn, brothers; Joe Waldroup and Bruce Kuhn, sisters; Marie Sellers and Ann McRimmon.
Don was born in Golden, Tx on March 27th, 1944. He later married the love of his life, Linda on May 17th, 1967. He was a Sgt. in the 144th infantry battalion of the Texas Army National Guard. He spent the majority of his career working at Walker McDonald Mfg, and ultimately retired from Varel Energy Solutions.
Don was a rock, a foundation for his entire family. He selflessly helped others during any time of need. His dedication to his family manifested itself many times over. He was identified by many names and wore many hats throughout his life. Whether it be Don, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle Don, Gordy, and occasionally others that won’t be mentioned, transformed the lives of all those around him. Don was a “character” but his genuine character drew great respect.
Through his life and now in his memory we are all inspired to love selflessly, lend a hand to those in need, and treat every day as if it’s your last.
Due to current circumstances, we will not be having a service this week. An announcement will be made at a later date for a celebration of Don’s life.
