Curtis was born July 21, 1965 in Houston, Missouri to Willis “Jim” Jennings and Mildred Louise (Wilson) Hough. He married Shannon Disch on June 6, 2014 in Branson, Missouri.

Curtis grew up on a dairy farm in Missouri, where he learned the value of hard work and commitment. He could often be found driving the back roads, hunting, or fishing with his best friends Scott Allen and Danny Murr. Curtis enlisted in the US Army in 1983, where he served as a recovery vehicle specialist, taking responsibility for the safe recovery of all battalion vehicles. Curtis attributed his duty assignments in Korea, Germany, Egypt, El Salvador, Panama, California, Virginia, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Texas to developing his core values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. He was a proud veteran and member of the American Legion and AMVETS. Following his time in the military, Curtis began a career in retail management. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Management, with a minor in marketing from American Public University in Charles Town, WV, and his Masters in Business Administration from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS. Curtis loved researching his family ancestry, spending time fishing out on the lake, and reading. He could be found doing what he enjoyed most in his final years, driving a wrecker with his dear friend Jason Henderson and serving Hunt County as Assistant Fire Chief at the Tawakoni Fire Department.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Shannon Hough; siblings, Orville Larry Griffith and wife, Mary of Metamora, IL, Darlene J. Hough Justice of Marysville, WA, Carol Janet Craig and husband, Gary of Las Vegas, NV, Beverly Sue Hicks of Ava, MO; honorary mother, Rachel Murr Nesbit of Mountain Grove, MO, surviving honorary siblings, Christopher Burkett of West Tawakoni, TX, Scott Allen of Graff, MO, C.
