James Arthur Speight, 91, of Campbell passed away at his residence on Thursday evening February 23, 2023. James was born December 22, 1931 in Hunt County to John Arthur Speight and Stella Rice Speight. He owned and operated Speight Sand & Gravel. James served his country in the United States Army.
James is survived by his daughter Brenda Gail Smith and husband Kevin; son Steve Speight and wife Wendy; grandchildren Stevie Armistead, Slater Smith, Stephanie Montana, Whitley Strickland, Chaney Parchman, Peyton Conyers and Neely Conyers; great grandchildren Landon Moser, Ethan Gutierrez, Holden Armistead, Turner Armistead, Callum Armistead, Tucker Strickland, Stevie Strickland and Lux Bustillos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kim Speight and brothers JT Speight and Robert Lee Speight.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Strickland, Paul Ray Vittitow, Jimmy Muecke, Wesley Ashley, Clinton Gillean and JR Early.
A private burial will be held.
