After an 18-month battle with pancreatitis, Alves Clyde Key is resting safe in the arms of Jesus. He passed peacefully with his family at his side. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Highland Terrace Baptist Church. Dr. Chet Haney, Bro. John Foster, and Dr. Gene Key will officiate. Burial will follow at Hogeye Cemetery. Visitation will be at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, TX on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 6-8 PM.

Clyde was born on January 19, 1943, in Fannin County, Texas to Ethel L. and Broadus A. Key. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; sons, Jay A. Key and wife Petra of Prague, Czech Republic; Christopher D (Skip) Key and wife Melissa; daughter, Angeli M. Key and one granddaughter, Anna Louisa Key of Prague. Brothers, Dr. Gene C. Key and wife Gloria; Billy A. Key and wife Melva; sister, Norma Valdez and husband Teo. Brothers and sisters in law, Jim and Sandra Goodman, Ralph and Billie Pickerill and Linda Jo Goodman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Bobby Goodman.

Clyde was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Silver Leos Writing Group. He served as an officer and contributed regularly to their anthologies which are published yearly. His latest book, ANNA’S Book- Back in the Day Memories, was written for his precious granddaughter Anna.
