David Manual Smith, 78, of Celeste, passed away on October 22, 2023, at his home with Fran, Celeste and Matthew by his side. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 27, 2023, in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. James Seigler officiating, burial will follow the service at Dulaney Cemetery in Dulaney, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
David was born on May 21, 1945, in Greenville, to Curtis Lawton Smith and Comora Donal Roma Sims Smith. David grew up in Celeste and was a 1963 graduate from Celeste High School. David married Carolyn Irene Gray on August 7, 1969, in the Hogeye community. He worked for 33 years at FFE Transportation. He was retired operations manager for a trucking company.
David is survived by his daughter Celeste Smith, son Matthew Smith, lady love Fran Stewart, grandchildren Mia Brumfield and husband Zach, Moriah Smith, Lillith Smith, Ford Smith, sister Claudine Anderson and husband Don, sisters-in-law Carrie Smith, Nancy Smith, Barbara Smith, special friends William Neyman Jr. and Scharlyn Berner.
David is preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers Benjamin, Curtis, and Thomas, and infant sister Clara Jean Smith.
Pallbearers will be Tim Smith, Zach Brumfield, Curt Smith, Donald Hunter, Larry Ray and Layne LaBaron.
