Dorothy Nell Hale passed away peacefully in her wonderful group home, Ray of Light, in Dallas, TX on April 29, 2019, just shy of her 95th birthday.
Dorothy was born on June 9, 1924 to Myrtle and Charlie Mulkey. She graduated from Merit High School in 1942. She was the treasurer of her senior class, and was voted most beautiful, which is ironic because she hated to have her picture taken! She married Billy Jack Hale in 1949. They resided in Greenville for a few years and later moved to Dallas. They welcomed their daughter Shelley Annice in 1963. Dorothy was a very devoted Mother and Grandmother. Everyone that knew her considered her to be one of the strongest people that they knew.
Dorothy’s hobbies included exercise, reading, and most of shopping at Big Lots! That is where you would find her every single Sunday afternoon after church. She loved family gatherings, and a good home cooked southern meal! Her favorite food the last five years of her life was Chick-fil-a nuggets!
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Shelley Parkinson and husband Robin; Grandson, Dustin Parkinson, and his wife Theresa; Granddaughter, Danielle Mavro and her husband George; Great granddaughters, Rylee and Kory Parkinson; Brother, Bobby Mulkey and his wife Robbie and brother, Neil Mulkey.
A celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Lynch Funeral Service at 11 AM with Tim Harkins officiating. The family would like to thank Annick Gunn and her staff at Ray of Light Homes for the amazing care and love they gave her the last two years of her life. She was so happy and content there. To put it in her own words, “There is something about this place!”
