Gladys Vertle Davis Kilgore Damron, 102, of Greenville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 22, 2024. Gladys was born on March 4, 1921, in Cumby, Texas, to Nannie Fitzgerald Davis and Fredrick C Davis.
Gladys was of the Baptist faith, loved her family, and was a hard worker at Henson-Kickernick until her retirement. She married Olen Kilgore on May 25, 1941. They were married until Olen’s passing on October 22, 1977. On January 7, 1999, Gladys married Don Damron. They spent just over 20 years together before his passing on March 10, 2019.
Gladys is survived by her children: Glenna Morgan and husband JA, and Jackson Kilgore and wife Barbara; grandchildren: Matt Kilgore and wife Amanda, Andy Kilgore and wife Heather, and Amanda Thurman and husband Bradley; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Gladys is preceded in death by her first husband, Olen, second husband, Don, her parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons: Matt Kilgore, Andy Kilgore, and Bradley Thurman, and great-grandsons: Caden Marshall, Gus Kilgore, and Jaxson Marshall.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, January 25, at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, starting at 11:00 AM. Chaplain Stanley Joseph will be presiding over the service.
