Glenna Alice “Jo” (Gardner) Essary, 84, one of seven children born to Jack Gardner & Ova Nell Stockard in Bowie, Texas September 15, 1935 peacefully passed away in her sleep in Greenville, Texas on March 11th, 2020.
Jo is preceded in death by her husband Gene Essary and brothers Don and Bobby Jack Gardener.
She is survived by three children; Linda Dian Cook Barker of Shreveport, LA, Tommie Lynn Cook and wife Susan Lovell Cook of Colleyville, Tx, Pamela Jo Essary Woods of Greenville, Tx. Eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Jo is also survived by four of her siblings, Carolyn Howard, Charles Gardner, Gary Gardner & Mary Robertson.
Jo enjoyed life, making friends (she never met a stranger), a lover of animals, growing flowers & cooking for family. For the past nine years, Jo was a resident of Legend Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Greenville, Texas. While at the home, she enjoyed all the resident activities provided, especially bingo & hallway bowling. Jo’s family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Legend and Dr. Gina Rushing for their kind & caring attitude in the provision of care given to her.
The family will be holding a Graveside Service for Glenda Alice “Jo” Essary in Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, Texas on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 @ Noon.
