James Ardis “Jim” Rutherford, Jr., 77, of Greenville, Texas, went on to be with his creator on December 6, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Candice Womack officiating.
Jim was born July 9, 1944, in Greenville, Texas to James Ardis Rutherford, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Powell Rutherford. He married the love of his life Sandra Layton. Jim attended Texas A&M College Station and served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy, aboard an Aircraft carrier, with two tours in Vietnam. He worked as a carpenter and Aircraft electrician at E-Systems.
Jim charter his own course in life and emphasis a keen sense of humor and kindness towards everyone he met. He was a skilled woodworking craftsman that constructed a museum-quality home for him and his wife. He served on the museum board, Daybreak Rotary Club, and the facilities committee at United Presbyterian Church. He was also very involved in the hospital bed program to the Caribbean Island of Dominica.
Jim is survived by his brother, William “Bill” Rutherford and wife, Luz of Greenville; niece, Jill Rutherford; nephew, Jay Rutherford; and cousins, Sallie Falzone, Sam Miller, John Miller, Ben Miller, Mike Miller, Joe Rutherford and Med Rutherford.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
