James Lee Goodroe, a retired Diesel Mechanic with Yellow Freight Systems, passed away on December 21, 2023, in Greenville, Texas. He was born on July 13, 1937, in West, Mississippi. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
James had an incredible career as a Diesel Mechanic with Yellow Freight Systems. He dedicated many years of hard work and commitment to his profession, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients. James’s exceptional skill and knowledge in his field made him a valuable asset to the company.
Outside of his work, James had a variety of interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. One of his favorite pastimes was woodworking. He had a remarkable talent for crafting beautiful pieces from wood, bringing out its natural beauty in every creation. James’s skillful hands could transform ordinary pieces into extraordinary works of art.
In addition to woodworking, James also found solace and happiness in bird watching. He would spend hours observing these graceful creatures in their natural habitats. His passion for birds was infectious, and he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with anyone willing to listen.
Animals held a special place in James’s heart. His love for them was evident in the way he cared for his own pets and animals around him. He cherished every opportunity to shower them with affection and provide them with a safe and loving environment.
James is survived by his loving wife Linda Louise Raper Goodroe who stood by his side throughout their journey together. His memory will forever be cherished by his siblings Bonnie Lou Massey and Michael Goodroe. James leaves behind an incredible legacy through his children: James Daniel (Lynn) Goodroe, Robert Wayne Goodroe, James B (Zolia) Goodroe, Mary Lynne (Ken) Moore, Cindy Louise Goodroe, Linda Michelle (Shawn) Ardoin, Angela Darlene (Scott) Young, Pamela Porch, and Suzanne (Nathan) Kemp.
His grandchildren, Jesse James Falcon, Daniel Glen Daily, Alec Young, Michael (Melinda) Porch, Houston Porch, Andrea Kemp, Anna Kemp, Landon Kemp, Vicky Goodroe, Rose Goodroe, Owen Porch, Emma Kate Porch, Sara Porch, and Hope Goodroe were the light of his life. James took immense pleasure in watching them grow and succeed in their endeavors.
The joy of James’s life expanded with the arrival of his great-grandchildren Evie Marie Dampier, Joshua Martinez, and Isaac Goodroe. He adored them deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.
James also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. His impact on the lives of those around him was immeasurable as he touched the lives of many throughout his journey.
James is Preceded in death by; Betty Pauline Goodroe; Mother, Mary Louise Kyzer Goodroe; Father, Charles Lee Goodroe; Step Father, Louis Massey; Adopted son, Douglas Goodroe; and Grandson, Craig Goodroe.
