James Roy Bartlett 71, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 4, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to James E. and Tommie Mae Bartlett.
James married the love of his life, Patricia Evans on April 1, 1995. They were happily married for more than 25 years.
James worked as a welder professionally, and he very much enjoyed this work.
He was an accomplished drummer having been a member of several bands throughout his life. He even had opportunity to play with Waylon Jennings at one time.
He had an adventurous soul, and he looked forward to the spontaneous road trips his wife would plan for the two of them to take. He saw the ocean for the first time in his life at the age of 50 as the result of one of these memorable trips.
James is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Patricia Evans Bartlett; their children, Michael James Bartlett (Leann), Kelly Gene Bartlett (Kelly Jo), Gary Wayne Smith (Brenda), Gregory Duane Smith (Sally), and Timothy Dale Smith (Tracy); a brother, Richard Clinton Bartlett; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
