Jerry Dale Rudd, 78, of Greenville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 29, 2024. Jerry was born and raised in Greenville, on January 3, 1946, to Miram Theo Jeffcoat and Robert Lee Rudd, Jr.

Jerry was a faithfully devoted Christ follower. He attended Family Fellowship, previously called Lamar Baptist, for over 60 years. He served as a Sunday School teacher, church bus driver, and deacon.

Jerry, also known as Big Daddy by his family, was very sentimental and loved to make things for his children and grandchildren. Notably, he made wooden rocking horses for each grandchild’s first birthday.

He was the owner and operator of Rudd Construction Company for 27 years and built many notable places around Greenville. After his retirement, Jerry went on to use his extensive building knowledge as a crew leader for Volunteer Christian Builders. VCB’s mission is to provide free labor to construct buildings for churches and camps. He and Sandy spent the last 10 years traveling all across the U.S. with their VCB family.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sandy Rudd; children: Shannon Overstreet and Darryl, Jana Hughes and Perry, Michelle Moore and Hank, Jerry Rudd II; grandchildren: Alex Overstreet and Kaley, Madeline Moore, Caleb Richard and Lauryn, Addison Hughes, Claire Moore and fiancé Taylor Wilson, Zane Hughes, Blake Richard, Ethan Richard, Nate Richard, Eli Richard, Kas Richard; daughter-in-love, Stacy Richard and Jason; great-granddaughter, Abby Overstreet; a great-grandson on the way; siblings: Jeanette Read, Robert Lee Rudd III and Darlene, Gary Rudd and Alicia; and his treasured VCB family.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 11:00 AM in the Lynch Funeral Service Chapel in Greenville, Texas. A visitation will take place an hour prior at 10:00 AM with Randy Blanton leading the service. Jerry will be laid to rest at Simmons Cemetery in Greenville.
