John Lewis Mizell, Lt. Colonel (Retired), USAF, died Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Greenville.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.  Dr. Matt Beasley and Dr. Chet Haney will officiate.  Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.  Visitation will be Thursday, 12:30 PM until service time at the church.

Mr. Mizell was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on February 21, 1923.  He was the son of Earl Mizell and Artie Bell Scrivner Mizell.  He married Betty Jo Schuh on July 14, 1946 in Paragould, Arkansas.  He was a retired Lt. Colonel and Pilot in the United States Air Force, formerly worked for LTV, Mizell & Howell Real Estate, and was a Hunt County Commissioner.  He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church but maintained many ties with Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He was a member of Lions Club, Gideons International and was on the board of Fireman’s Retirement and Relief Fund. 

Survivors include his son, Steve Mizell; daughters, Kathy Mizell and Nancy Davis; grandchildren, Ben Mizell and wife Rose, Susanna Liday and husband Jeff, Erin Brownfield and husband Robert, Andrew Davis and wife Torie and Brent Mizell; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife; parents, six brothers, two sisters and daughter-in-law, Nancy Hunt Mizell.
