Joyce Taylor departed this life on Friday March 8, 2024, in Greenville, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville officiated by Rev. Eddie Singleton. A visitation from 1 pm to 2 pm will be in the chapel prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Merit Cemetery in Merit, Texas.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace E. Taylor; parents, John McCloud and Lucille Doan McCloud.

Survivors are son, Michael Taylor and wife, Carol Taylor; daughter, Cynthia Taylor McCormack; and son John Christopher Taylor; three grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Brad McCormack and wife, Ashley, and Kaitlyn Frazier and husband, Justin; as well as five great-grandchildren Brayden, Blayne, Baylee, Bentley, and Baylor; Her two sisters are Nelda Jean Gandy and Johnnie Gail Greer.

Joyce worked for over 30 years at the Temco/E-Systems defense plant in Greenville as a printed circuit board fabricator/assembler. During her time there she made lifelong friends she enjoyed until her last days.

Joyce was a very hospitable lady who would nurture anyone in need, worked in her garden, canned vegetables, and cooked delicious sweets everyone loved. Joyce went to most of the events her children, grandchildren, and friends participated in. She enjoyed the Merit Lady’s Club, the Hunt County Car Club, and visiting with others.

Joyce and her husband Wallace Taylor met at a party when he was about seventeen. Their parents approved of such a likable young lady. He proposed on the Fourth of July. They married in Greenville on August 16, 1952. No wedding reception but at least a weekend in Dallas. They were married for 60 loving years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Briarcliff Health Center of Greenville for the great love and care they gave Joyce. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Merit Cemetery Association at PO Box 217, Merit Texas 75458.
